Back to it!

After a hiatus of about 12 months I’m back. It’s been a funny old 12 months which has included a major operation and some real internal battles with myself.

This year I turn 40 the BIG 40! I’ve struggled a lot with it but after watching this vlog I realised that I’m not the only one doing stuff like this out there in the world of the Internet.

As such I am back and will be blogging my favourite things!

Here we go…

Mascara, I like it wet!!

20130604-122031.jpg

When it comes to mascara I love it thick, black and bold!!!! This means I’m very discerning when it comes to buying the stuff as to get loads on my lashes it can’t be dry!

As you can see from the pic above (I hope!!) I do use loads of the stuff and as you can imagine I go through it on a regular basis. The problem I find thought with most budget mascara’s are they’re incredibly dry and difficult to work with. As a result I don’t get the coverage or thickness that I like!

Luckily I have found a mascara by MUA Cosmetics called Extreme Curl Mascara, that is not only cheap (£2), but also lovely and wet so you can load up your lashes as much as you want! You can choose from black or black brown.

The wand is curved to help with accuracy and nice and long (something I prefer). I also find it easy to use the tip of the wand to do corners and the bottom lashes.

The colour stays well and doesn’t clog too badly and will come off easily with makeup remover or good olds soap and water!

As this is a very wet mascara you will need a steady hand as it’s easy to smudge and get on the lid, but nothing a cotton bud can’t fix!

So if you want a bargain go online or pop to Superdrug for an MUA fix☺

MUA Lipgloss & Pressed Powder

20130519-225740.jpg

Just a quickly!

I got some lovely pressed powder and a lipgloss from Makeup Academy recently and thought I’d better post a review now I’ve had a chance to use them ☺

20130519-230134.jpg

The pressed powder is lovely and was a bargain at £1. It comes in four shades which you can see here, these don’t cover as many skin tones as I’d like but then most cosmetics companies are guilty of this!

The powder has no real smell which is fine for me as I can be sensitive to perfume. It goes on well, I use a Kabuki brush, and lasts. I find it doesn’t cake and when I load my brush there’s not a lot of powder lost. I’m using this regularly and it’s really lasting, an absolute bargain!!

The lipgloss is also a bargain at £1, unfortunately it’s out of stock on the MUA website at the mo though you may still find it instore at Superdrug.

The lipgloss has a very fruity smell and a sweet taste. It goes on well and lasts. What I don’t like though is the gloss is very sticky and gloopy! My hair gets stuck in it if it’s windy bleurgh!

It is a nice gloss for the price though and comes in a lot of colours!

So there you go a quicky update with bargains xx

Liz Earle Botanical Essence No100

20130507-142250.jpg

Hi!

It’s been a while but I’m back! Still no PC, this time due to our Wifi box being dead but, hey what can you do???

I thought I’d do a perfume review as I find it hard to find perfumes that are cruelty free. Especially ones that don’t smell cheap and nasty.

So I was really happy when I discovered Liz Earle and even happier when I discovered they’d opened a stand in the Manchester branch of Boots! The closest one before was John Lewis in the Trafford Centre and I’m no fan of the Trafford Centre at all.

Liz Earle is an Isle of Wight company who make all their products in the UK. If you check out the website you can see loads of information regarding their products. When I can get on a PC I’ll do an overview of the company as I love the fact they are UK based so bonus points on carbon etc. and that they are ethical.

The company does a monthly special for the face products and always includes free full size samples, something that I love the idea of as you can get a real feel for the product.

Liz Earle is currently available on QVC, Boots (check website as not all stores have a stand), John Lewis, online and there are a few stores dotted around the UK. The Liz Earle stores do spa treatments as well mmmmmmm cruelty free facial, ❤ it!

The perfume I’m trying is the new one called Botanical Essence No 100 which is £47 for a 50ml spray bottle. It has a beautiful summery smell which is strong but not too overpowering for me. The ylang ylang is what sells it to me as I love that but the combination of is just beautiful! The only downer is that my skin doesn’t seem to like one if the ingredients and gives it a weird secondary smell. I’m going to try it again and see what happens! That’s the problem with perfume, your skin can change the smell and so I would always recommend getting samples first (if you can!).

As the inlay on the sample card says it is like “walking into a florist” and being hit by all the smells inside! The combination of flowers and plants give this a lovely spring/summer feel and remind me of summer holidays.

This may well be too strong for some as it does linger like Angel does. So if you like the lighter fragrance this may not be for you.

I absolutely love this fragrance and, if further tries work and I don’t get the strange side smell, will definitely be adding it to my collection ☺

I’ll be doing another review of their products in the next couple of days once I’ve used them for a week. Xx

Yummy Apricot Exfoliating Mask by Superdrug

Yummy Photo of Me in the Mask

Another day another face mask and this time it’s a really lovely apricot one!

I love the Superdrug face masks they’re such good value for money and I’m working my way through the whole range. You can find it here and it includes some for men, though I’d argue anyone could use any of them!

So, this is the Apricot Exfoliating Mask and I have to say it’s one of my faves so far! It feels lovely on the skin and the smell is so lovely!!!

My skin looked lovely and clear after and felt really clean, it didn’t feel too taut or dry and my moisturiser went on well.

For 99p this is well worth every penny. I have to be careful with scented products as my skin can be über sensitive and I was very pleased with this as I didn’t even get a tingle!

I will definitely be buying this one again as it really is lovely! Go treat yourself ☺ today xx
