Mascara, I like it wet!!

20130604-122031.jpg

When it comes to mascara I love it thick, black and bold!!!! This means I’m very discerning when it comes to buying the stuff as to get loads on my lashes it can’t be dry!

As you can see from the pic above (I hope!!) I do use loads of the stuff and as you can imagine I go through it on a regular basis. The problem I find thought with most budget mascara’s are they’re incredibly dry and difficult to work with. As a result I don’t get the coverage or thickness that I like!

Luckily I have found a mascara by MUA Cosmetics called Extreme Curl Mascara, that is not only cheap (£2), but also lovely and wet so you can load up your lashes as much as you want! You can choose from black or black brown.

The wand is curved to help with accuracy and nice and long (something I prefer). I also find it easy to use the tip of the wand to do corners and the bottom lashes.

The colour stays well and doesn’t clog too badly and will come off easily with makeup remover or good olds soap and water!

As this is a very wet mascara you will need a steady hand as it’s easy to smudge and get on the lid, but nothing a cotton bud can’t fix!

So if you want a bargain go online or pop to Superdrug for an MUA fix☺

MUA Lipgloss & Pressed Powder

20130519-225740.jpg

Just a quickly!

I got some lovely pressed powder and a lipgloss from Makeup Academy recently and thought I’d better post a review now I’ve had a chance to use them ☺

20130519-230134.jpg

The pressed powder is lovely and was a bargain at £1. It comes in four shades which you can see here, these don’t cover as many skin tones as I’d like but then most cosmetics companies are guilty of this!

The powder has no real smell which is fine for me as I can be sensitive to perfume. It goes on well, I use a Kabuki brush, and lasts. I find it doesn’t cake and when I load my brush there’s not a lot of powder lost. I’m using this regularly and it’s really lasting, an absolute bargain!!

The lipgloss is also a bargain at £1, unfortunately it’s out of stock on the MUA website at the mo though you may still find it instore at Superdrug.

The lipgloss has a very fruity smell and a sweet taste. It goes on well and lasts. What I don’t like though is the gloss is very sticky and gloopy! My hair gets stuck in it if it’s windy bleurgh!

It is a nice gloss for the price though and comes in a lot of colours!

So there you go a quicky update with bargains xx

New Leaping Bunny (BUAV) Approved Cosmetics/Beauty Range B. At Superdrug

Hi,

Just a quicky!!!! 🙂

Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates and communications with my wonderful blogger friends, my computer has had a little meltdown and I’ve only had my phone to update the blog.  My wonderful hubby seems to have revived the poor thing and I’m hoping the normal service will be resumed imminently!

Secondly, I’ve just been advised by one of my wonderful friends that Superdrug have added a new Brand to their cosmetics/beauty range called B., find the website here.  This is brand spanking new and I’ve not been able to find anything about it on the internet.

They do a skin care range which can be tailored to your skin type and is similar to the Clinique 3 step range.  There is a diagnostic tool on the B. website which will help you determine which products are suitable for you skin!  It’s quite detailed and when the result comes through there are recommendations for the products that would work well with you skin.

There is also a comprehensive cosmetic range which features pretty much everything a girl would like.  The colour palettes give plenty of choice and clicking on the colour will show the product in that colour.

Pricewise this is really reasonable and is comparable with a lot of the big brands like Nivea et al.

Top all that off with the fact this is Leaping Bunny approved, Vegetarian & Vegan friendly and does not contain Parabens and you can see why I’m a little excited about trying it out!  I’ll be off to Superdrug to check it out as I’ve been looking for a good beauty regime since giving up the big bad brands!

Hurrah for new products 🙂

Unfortunately, Superdrug do not ship internationally 😦

Crimbo Haul

20130114-222129.jpg

I was a very lucky girl this year as Mr Love Beauty Not Cruelty got me all this MUA stuff for crimbo!

I’ve been poop, to say the least, at updating my blog so I thought I’d do a quicky on MUA Cosmetics.

The company has expanded enormously in the last 6 months and my crimbo haul reflects this, here is a list of the best of the expansion which doesn’t seem to be stopping!

1. Brushes – For me this is a biggy as I’ve been able to get cheap brushes and try them out to see if they work for me! I have about 5 now and they really are good considering the most expensive brush they do is £5 (kabuki) and the average is £1.95 or £3! They’re synthetic but hey, if all you want is an idea of wether a brush will work for you or not they’re spot on and they work alright too!

2. Pro Base Face Range – Fantastic range of palettes to highlight, brighten, conceal and generally sort out all those weird and wonderful facial imperfections (I personally think they’re our quirks!), we ladies love to cover up. Price range £2.50 – £6 and there’s a fixing mist also!!

3. Nail Constellations – Little, tiny, balls of magic that you put on your nail varnish to create a mental “hundreds and thousands” affect! These are brilliant and they even have a video demonstration on the site to show you how to do them, go on give it a whirl!!! The price of these cosmic balls? 2 of our English pounds!

4. Fur-Effect Nails – Meow! Furry nails, weird right? But in a good way, really fun way of standing out and according to MUA’s Facebook page very popular with the beauty editors they tried them out on. The next big thing??????

This is just a small example of the stuff MUA are doing at the mo and more stuff is being added every day. Check out their Facebook page for all the new products that are being released. They’re very good at keeping fans up to date and do some amazing offers including massive discounts and loads of free stuff!

I predict big things to come from this company and they ship internationally!! Go have a little sneaky peek and become obsessed like me ☺

Blog Awards Prt 1

I have been lucky enough to be nominated for a couple of awards recently. I ❤ getting these as they’re from fellow bloggers which means a lot especially as I’ve only been doing this for a few months and I’m a rank amateur ha ha ha!

So, the first award is the Inspiring Blog Award which the beautiful Anouchka of Life of Bun, a sassy, funky, gorgeous fellow Cruelty Free blogger, nominated me for! Thanks honey I’m so flattered!

Not being one to follow convention Anouchka changed the rules and put some great questions in instead! Here are my responses…

What clothing item makes you feel at your best?

Iron Fist shoes!!!!! I can’t wear their platforms but the flats are amazing, so cute and the designs are so rock n roll so, me to a t! The clothes are also amazing I have a gorgeous black and white jacket from them.

When are you most energetic? Morning/Noon or Night?

Tough one this as I’m always knackered as I have 3 kids 6 and under ☺! Probably noon as I’m pretty much awake by then ha ha ha!

Time to kick back and relax! What’s your pick-me-up food/drink?

I’m a bit of a hummus addict so probably that. I’ve recently found caramelised onion hummus mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Drinks wise a mint aero milkshake from Pinkies Cafe in Afflecks Palace Manchester a 50’s style cafe ❤❤❤.

What’s your favourite kind of chocolate?

God this is a bloomin hard one! I ❤ chocolate too much. Probably the fruity ones from Hotel Chocolate mmmmmm. I particularly ❤ their Eton Mess, strawberries, meringue and white chocolate. Need. To. Stop. Thinking. About. Chocolate…

What’s your favourite past time?

Apart from hanging with the kids I love to go dancing, gigging and reading. I also have a new re-found love, roller skating, I think I’m having an early midlife crisis!

What sound do you love?

Giggles from the kids, cheesy I know but it’s a wonderful sound!

If you could pack your bags and leave right now, what country/city would you go to?

New York! It’s the only place in America I’ve been to and I loved it! All the cool shopping and interesting people not to mention the food and the feeling that I’ve walked onto the set of Seinfeld ha ha ha.

There’s an album called “the soundtrack to your life” what songs would have to be on it?

This is the hardest question ever! So many tunes so little time…

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd – this was our first dance when i married my husband, I ❤ it so much “we’re just 2 lost souls living in a fish bowl year after year”

Back in Black – AC/DC – My kids fave tune so got to be on here \m/

Unfinished Sympathy – Massive Attack – this just gets me every time such a great tune.

Hurt – Nine Inch Nails – this is one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever heard. Jonny Cash did a brilliant cover just before his death but the original is the one for me as that’s the one I had when I was going through my teens ❤!

Jem & The Holograms – Music is Magic – giving my age away here but I wanted to be Jem so badly ha ha ha oh Synergy why weren’t you real?????

Half Man Half Biscuit – Trip to Trumpton – Hilarious ’nuff said!

Grave Diggaz – 1-800 Suicide – Old Skool hip hop ❤ from the film Demon Knight great cheesy horror from the 90’s

Debaser – The Pixies – Reminds me of going to The Penny Theatre in Canterbury on Tuesday nights for indie night when I was 18.

Karmadrome – P.W.E.I – my now husband got me into these when we were 18 and this is my most fave tune! England’s Finest, they were the soundtrack to my life when I was younger!!

There are millions more I could put on here but you’d be fed up with me…

Do you have any bad habits?

Uh yeah! Loads! I’m messy, ALWAYS late, über clumsy and never stop talking to name a few!

What’s one habit that others have that you absolutely cannot stand?

Rudeness and bad manners!!!!! It takes very little effort to have good manners and be polite but so many people don’t bother. If you’re rude and/or have no manners I don’t want you in my life!!!
Also people who litter, lazy bastards with no respect for the beautiful world they live in!
Rant over…

Now to the nominations…

1. Fuller Figure Fuller Bust – It’s safe to say I would still be in an ill fitting bra if it wasn’t for George at FFFB she is a bra legend!

2. Mother Nature’s Snuggery – A brilliant blog covering all things Eco and natural. Lots of yummy recipes to try for beauty stuff. I’ve learnt a lot about the nasties put in products from this blog!

3. Tales from Betty Bees Towers – Lots of advice, beauty reviews and gorgeous 50’s inspired clothes/makeup etc ❤ it!

4. Skin Goodness – Another blog with lots of lovely natural stuff in it edible and not! There are so many recipes I want to try…

5. Higher Thinking Primate – some interesting science stuff on here and also conspiracy stuff (giggle), good for the inner geek!

6. Indefinitely Still Me – Very frank, honest blog mainly dealing with mental health and it’s effect.

There you go! Congratulations all these blogs mean a lot to me. I also found a lot of these through awards which goes to show how important they are.

Another awards post at the weekend as I’m off to The Smith’s night in Manchester tomorrow night.
